Glycol is usually required to protect the exchanger from freezing.
The glycol presents the following major inconveniences:
- Cost.
- Low coefficient of exchange, thus upper investment.
- Electric consumption increased to compensate for the decline of performance.
- Pollution during the discharges of water with glycol.
- Degradation in the time of the antifreeze efficiency.
So, Jacir developed a range of cooling towers with circuit closed without glycol and without risk of damage of the heat exchanger in case of frost.
In case of electric stop, the water of the secondary circuit falls by gravity in the basin, so allowing the dilation of plates and seals of the heat exchanger safely.
